Butterflies

After looking after them for a few weeks we finally let the butterflies go. We had 10 delivered to us and had 10 butterflies to release, unfortunately two had damaged wings and probably didn't make it very far. We have since seen painted lady butterflies in the garden and wonder if they were ares.

It was great fun sitting and waiting for the butterflies to realise the lid was off and that they were free.

Year 6 celebreations

Finally after what seems like a very long term Lucy has finished St Teresa's. However the last few weeks have been the best she has had and has many memories to take with her.

Firstly the Year 6 Production. It was a fabulous version of Oliver called 'Olivia'. Lucy was an orphan and a member of the ghost gang. Loads of fun was had by everyone.

All the kids in the playground yesterday at the end of the last day in school.

They then had a party at Barkham Village Hall with music and a bouncy castle.

All the parents who hopefully will all remain close friends.

On Wednesday they had their own disco at school. Lucy went as a geek - after raiding Daddy's wardrobe !! They had a fabulous evening with cocktails to start (non-alcoholic !!) and a chocolate fountain and loads of singing and dancing.

And traditionally the children go round school getting pupils and staff to sign their school shirts as a momento of their time in school.

Lucy's school teacher who has been amazing and will be missed.

And great friends who we will keep in touch with.

And finally their cake for their celebrations.

Now onto the next step of Senior School !!

Big Girl School

My big girl is growing up !! Recently she had two days at St Crispin's School where she had a lovely time. We have now bought the uniform so had to try it all on and take photos, didn't sob too much!! Will save those tears for this week when we have a leavers mass at school and an end of term party with all her friends. It does seem weird her wearing the same tie as I did, and I even had Mr Williams my geography teacher do a talk at the parents meeting.

Days out - Odds Farm

Our next day out was to Odds Farm with cousins Max, Harry & Jack. It was a very hot and tiring day but the kids had loads of fun in the park, on the tractor and feeding the animals.

Days out - Chessington

Our next day out was to Chessington for the day. Having not been for a couple of years we were looking forward to seeing the extended zoo with the new Zebra part. Amazingly the Lion was up and about despite the heat.

The girls had a lovely time on many of the rides. The girls are now the perfect heights so that Katie is tall enough to go on rides without me so can ride with Lucy and Hannah is just about tall enough to go on most rides if she stands tall enough. We even managed a go on the Vampire ride which was great fun for Hannah !!

Days out - London

Last week we took our first sightseeing trip to London.

Our first stop was Madame Tussauds. The girls weren't that excited by it as they didn't know many of the famous actors and celebrities.

Mummy had to have her picture taken with Robbie Williams, it's the closest I'm ever going to get !!Next we went on via Westminster to the London Eye. Perfect timing for a photo Big Ben chimed for midday.

After a very long wait we finally got onto the London Eye. The girls were amazed and fascinated by how high we were and by how much we could see.

Next we went to the London Aquarium which was next door to the London Eye.

We then took a trip to see Buckingham Palace and had a wonder through the parks near by.

In Green park there is a display of about 20 elephants each with their own different designs on them. The girls loved climbing on each one.

This one was called 'fish and chips' as it is chips in newspaper wrapping.

Finally onto Baker Street to meet Daddy for Pizza. What a long day, all for free thanks to our Merlin Passes !! Well worth buying !

Robins family babies

It is most definitely Spring in our family.

Firstly we had a robin who decided (quite wisely) to make a nest in Katie's (luckily old) cycle helmet that was hung up in our side shed. The girls were very good every time they went in their as to not disturb the mother or babies. They have now grown and fled the nest which has been to school for show & tell !!

Lucy had a butterfly set for her birthday so finally remembered to send off for the caterpillar larva. They have now gone from big caterpillars to chrisalides which we have moved from the pots into the butterfly net and await the arrival of some lovely butterflies.

And finally the worst news of the lot. The snails have produced eggs !! We have removed them to another pot and wait to see if they hatch. Let's hope they don't all as we had two batchs and they could be a couple of hundred !! Anyone want a snail !!
