Panto Time

Lucy stared in her first (and probably not the last) parish panto. It was a very hard week with a 4 hour rehearsal on Sunday, a technical rehearsal on Tuesday night, dress rehearsal Wednesday night and performances Thursday and Friday night and twice on Saturday.
But saying that she had a lovely time. Her part was a villager and she got to join in with all the songs and dancing and even had some parts in scenes acting. Next year she wants to do it all again but have some lines to learn as well.

A little late but only just got the photos.

Sledging with the girls

As promised we went out today in the snow with our snow bum boards. Firstly we went down the hill outside the house and then we got a little daring and went to the park where there was a much bigger hill to slide down. Lots of fun was had by Lucy, Katie and Charlotte.

Oops not into the ditch Katie !!!

More Snow

Yes it came down last night thick and fast and was 20cm by the morning. As the only school open in the town we all had to trek into school at 8am this morning and made it in in 50mins by walking on the roads following the car tracks. If we had had to go by the pavements i think Hannah would still be there as the snow was over her wellies. Anyway lots of fun was had at school and some great snow sculptures were made and many snow balls were thrown at Mrs Robins who very kindly offered to stay to help !! When we finally got home Katie and I made a snowman and then used our newly purchased bum sleds down the hill outside the house. No doubt we will be back out in it tomorrow as we have school closed for two days and i will post some pics of the girls sledging tomorrow.

Yes it really was that deep !!

All kitted out and off to school in the snow.

And it was up to Hannah's top of her wellies !!

A beautiful snow teddy as the girls thought it looked like. It was just a pile of snow built up on the decking post.

Hannah posing with the snowman even though she didn't actually make it !!

Christmas Day part 2

As usual on Boxing Day we met up with the Daniels side of the family. This year we spent the day at Anyd & Vals, thanks for a fabulous lunch Val. Ollie was on his best behaviour and even all 9 other children played nicely together. I think Uncle Martin had a great time fixing and making all the boys toys !!

Christmas

Thankfully the girls were good this year and Santa paid them a visit on Christmas Eve and filled their stockings with some lovely presents and brought them each a big present. We then spent the day with the Robins clan having a lovely (even quiet) Christmas lunch, thanks Mum and then onto more presents from all the family, thank you every one for your gifts for the girls.

On Christmas Eve the girls were very excited !! They left a biscuit and some brandy for Santa and a carrot and some water for Rudolph. I think they may have wanted to sleep near their sacks but Santa wouldn't fill them if they were there !!

Lucy loved here remote controlled Tarantula, although i don't think everyone did !!

The cousins loved the springy balls much more than the girls did !!

The Simpsons scalextric was a great hit !!

Snow

Just before Christmas we had a lovely covering of snow although it caused chaos on Monday night it was beautiful to play in. We took 2 hours to get to Woosehill and back and Daddy took 2 hours to get back from Twyford pushing many cars out of the snow on the way. When we got home even though it was dark we had to go out and make our snowman. The next day as Daddy was working from home we all went out in the snow for a snowball fight, or mainly Daddy using the children as target practice. Katie and I went for a walk in the woods where it was very picturesque.

We got out our strong garden bags and used them to sled down the hill in the snow, great fun !!

Daddy throwing snowballs, at a guess at Hannah who was hiding behind the dustbin !!

The girls snowman, although within a day he had lost his head but a week later he is still just about there.

Snowflake

For Hannah's Christmas Performance she was a snowflake. As one of the bigger children she had lines to learn - "Word of the Kings arrival soon spread very fast" - Yes i heard them so much that even I know them now !! She also got to do a snowflake dance - aah cute.
